Transforming the Built Environment - A course on sustainable urban innovations

Date:
27. November 2014. - 08:00

Green buildings

By 2050, 66 % of the world’s population will live in urban areas. Cities are responsible approximately for 75 % of global CO2 emissions, with transport and buildings being among the largest contributors.

It is essential to make cities an integral part of the solution in fighting climate change through focusing on sustainable retrofitting. There are significant opportunities to adapt existing buildings to cope with the effects of climate change, especially considering the uniqueness of the European building stock with a mix of heritage and modern buildings. Our partners’ smart city visions can highlight new solutions for the European urban areas. Our aim is to raise awareness to the importance of the sustainable retrofitting and to show real business opportunities in this field. The course introduces the latest technology breakthroughs and offers an understanding of the related key environmental and economic issues.

Who is the course for?

The programme is mainly targeted for professionals from industries related to the built environment: facility managers, researchers and business representatives. However, all candidates are welcome who are interested in the latest innovative techniques and a better understanding of the issues of the built environment sectors in terms of sustainability and related business opportunities.

What do we offer?

Through a two-day program participants will gain a basic but thorough insight into the current situation of the European building stock and sustainable retrofitting, related financial possibilities, and smart city visions. They will have the opportunity to expand their network and find new solutions which they can apply in their own region.

Our partner is the Hungarian Green Building Council.
